So I decided to download the demo of Baldur's Gate 2, to see what it was and f I liked, I would buy it online. Being a 600 mb download, I was expecting a great RPG.

I just made a thread about this the other day but I feel like Baldur's Gate 1 is easier to get into, at least for me. Having played through both games already, the original just has an easier to get into beginning and for that reason picking it up again makes it so much easier. When you begin BG2 you're stuck in a dungeon for a while and then you basically beign the main game itself in Athkalta (however it's spelled) and at that point I just feel extremely overwhelmed with things to do.
The original has a more traditional beginning where you build your character and branch out. Game is built on a behind the scenes pen and paper die roll Dungeons & Dragons game. Imagine it as a front end GUI with a beautiful environment and none of your friends have to be the GameMaster.

It takes a while to get the hang of the combat if you have never played it and dont expect to EVER be able to just go gung ho and expect not to die. Its a very strategic game but is very rewarding once you get a good party and equipment. YOu truly feel powerful unlike most modern games where its expected to at some point just get ridiculously good weaponry. I think most people will agree with me that the start of the game simply sucks. The prison you escape from is likely the demo, and the single most borring thing in the game. When you escape and the world opens up to you, then the fun starts.
